Get involved - your voice counts

More than at any time in the history of the NHS you have a chance to shape the way health services are delivered. By joining NHS Leicester City's Membership, you can be involved as much or as little as you like. Membership is free and there are lots of other benefits.

To join, simply read the NHS Leicester City Membership page. As a member, you might want to get involved in our Health Interest Groups or a Patient Participation Group. Once you sign up, we will send you an information pack which gives details of all the ways in which you can get involved.

Real Accountability

To see what we have been up to involving the people of Leicester in the development of services read our Real Accountability reports. This details work we have done during each financial year.

What are Health Interest Groups?

Health Interest Groups give you a chance to get involved in health issues that interest you. At group meetings, members of NHS staff bring ideas for new services and healthcare that they would like to obtain public opinion on. When you complete the membership form, you will be asked to list your health interests. Based on your choices, you will be invited to the appropriate Health Interest Group meetings.

We might also invite you to get involved by joining a Patient Participation Group, a selection of patients and GP surgery staff who meet to provide support for their practice, and to contribute to improvements to services.

Take part in a consultation

You do not have to become a member to have your say. You can take part in a consultation on a current topic under discussion. It all counts.

NHS Leicester City aims to deliver high quality health services for its patients. Actively involving people in different ways, while working with partners such as Leicester City Council and the voluntary sector, we come closer to reducing the inequalities in health and life expectancy between the different parts of the city.

Patient and public involvement has an important role to play in shaping health services. Feedback from people who use the NHS also helps to ensure that local health services are safe, effective and of a high quality, and reveals ways that service improvements can be made.

Click on the Live Consultation 2011 link on the left to see what's under discussion now and what's been talked about recently.
