In Leicester City, patients now have a lot more choice about where and how they receive treatment. For example:
If you need to see a doctor, surgeries are now open longer and there are more opening up so you have more choice about when and where you are seen. Click here to search for participating surgeries.
You can now get more than just medicine at your local pharmacy, such as advice about medicines and healthy living; treatment for coughs, colds, aches and pains; stop smoking support; weight management; repeat prescriptions and chlamydia tests.
If you need to go into hospital, you can now choose any hospital in England, according to how easy it is to get to, parking arrangements, infection rates or its reputation. Ask your GP for more information.
If you have a non-emergency condition, treatment should now start within 18 weeks (In the 1990s it was anywhere between 6 months and 2 years). For more information, click here.
If you have a long term condition such as asthma, diabetes or MS, you can now access more support locally to help you manage your life and your condition. Ask you GP, nurse or social worker for more information.
For access to high quality care services like home nursing, maternal and child healthcare or treatment for back pain, you now have a greater choice of options locally. Ask your GP.
