Plans and policies
Our vision: "NHS Leicester City aims to improve health outcomes and the quality of life and the life expectancy of local people. We will do this by tackling the causes of premature death and reducing health inequalities within the city and between the city and the rest of the UK."
Like a series of Russian dolls, we have a range of plans which fit together to bring about better health and reduce health inequalities. They vary from the large-scale national plan to our own local ones.
The large-scale national plan is called High Quality Care For All. The East Midlands regional plan is called From Evidence to Excellence. The plan for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland is called Excellence for All and covers ten years.
For NHS Leicester City, our five-year plan is called One Healthy Leicester. It is a detailed commissioning and finance strategy.
Next the Local Operating Plan for 2009-11 fits within our five-year plan and gives more details. It takes into account the views and opinions of patients carers, the public and local people who have taken part in our public engagement campaigns.
These various plans share the same broad vision and objectives, looked at from different perspectives and covering different timescales.
